Four-Faced Buddha

The Taipa Erawan Shrine, also known as the Four-Faced Buddha, is located in front of the Macau Jockey Club in Taipa, Macao, and it is also the first Hinduism temple in Macao. The temple is built for praying to the Four-Faced Buddha, who is one of the three main gods of Hinduism, and the four faces represent career, love, healthiness and fortune. The statue of Four-Faced Buddha was moved from India to Macao in 1984, and when believers pray to the Buddha, they usually use flowers, Indian joss sticks and wooden elephants, or some times they would set the sparrows free.

The Birth of the Erawan Shrine held annually at the temple in 9th November is co-organized by the Association of Thais in Macao and the Macao’s Thailand Chamber of Commerce. During this event, Hindis will pray for the world peace and happiness for residents in Macao and Thailand.
